In my second shoot I will document the stereotypical life of a girl. This shoot will be done by the 10th March.
Evaluation
In this shoot I managed to capture the images that I wanted to show the life of a stereotypical life of a girl. In these images there are activities of a stereotypical girl, e.g. painting nails, doing makeup and talking on the phone.

This is one of my best images because it is fully in focus and it represents the life of a stereotypical girl as we associate girls with gossiping on the phone with their friends. I didn't fire the flash in this image because I wanted to achieve more natural and feminine lighting and using a flash would've created a bold, intimidating shadow. next time, to experiment with this image I could've taken it with a flash to see the difference. However, I think this image looks better like this as it gives off feminine lighting as there are no hard lights reflecting on her.

This is also one of my best images because it shows the activities of a stereotypical girl as we associate girls with doing their nails. In this image I didn't fire the flash because it is already showing a harsh shadow so I didn't want to create and even bolder one. I like this image because the main focus is on the nail and part of the nail polish wand, the rest of the image is slightly out of focus which gives a better effect. Next time, to experiment with this photo I could take it from different angles and have the hands in different positions.

This one of my images that didn't turn out so well, although it shows the activities of a stereotypical girl well it doesn't look as good as I had hoped. In my shoot I experimented with the flash and without the flash, I used the flash in this image. I don't think this image works well with the flash because it creates a bold, intimidating shadow but I wanted more feminine lighting to contribute with the theme. As I have already taken this image without the flash, next time I could experiment with different angles and a different composition.
Progression
To progress the images I put them into Photoshop and edited them which gives a better effect to the photographs and adds a deeper meaning to them.

I edited all these images in the same way by making them black and white. I think this adds more effect to the image because it makes the darker and lighter aspects of the images stand out more. I used the camera raw filter in Photoshop to edit these images as it has more setting to play with to improve them image. By making the images black and white this adds a negative effect to the images which is what I was hoping for. It links to Bruce Davidson's work because he photographs the negative aspects of life but doesn't necessarily tale images in black and white. The black and white theme adds more depth to the meaning, we shouldn't follow these stereotypes we should be our own person.
To progress my work further in my next shoot I am going to be photographing boys playing football as this carries on with the stereotype of a boy. In this shoot I will experiment using different settings as it may take me a few tries to get the settings on the camera right. I will also experiment with the flash in those images.
