Urban Life

In this image we can see man and a woman linking arms walking down a road, in the background we can see a road and two telephone boxes. We can tel that this isn't a very upper class area because there is a lot of graffiti on the telephone boxes. I think this image works well because the main focus of the image is the man and the woman and they are fully in focus, the fact that the background is out of focus makes sure they stand out. The deeper meaning of this image could be that although they are in a lower class area they are not bothered, they only care about each other.

In this image we can see a metal fence covered in padlocks. This is similar to the bridge in Amsterdam called the bridge of love where people put their padlocks on the bridge to show their love for someone. This fence covered in padlocks shows us that it all stemmed from on padlock being placed on the fence and then other padlocks being placed there to imitate the original one. It imitates the urban life in the city because in upperclass areas people would never put padlocks on a fence as they may class this as 'no respect'. I think this picture worked well because we can see the scale of the padlocks and how many there are but only a certain amount of them are in focus.

In this image we can see two asian women selling asian food on a street. This shows the lives of people who live in urban areas because these women have to make a living by selling food on a street. I think this image works well because it shows their everyday activities and the way that different people make their living. The whole image is in focus which draws attention to every aspect in the picture as all the elements in the image are important in giving the picture meaning. 

In this image we can see three boys, two of them have guitars and one is playing the piano. We can tell that this is located in an urban area by the extent of the graffiti around them and the cans of bear scattered around in the picture. I think this image works well because it shows us that even though people live in lower class areas they still find something they want to do and something that makes them happy that they want to share with everyone else. It links to everyday activities because this is what consists of what they do everyday, coming to this place makes them happy.

In this image we can see a group of men all sitting down, some of them sitting on barrels, chairs etc. We can tell this picture is located in an urban area because of the graffiti behind them and the fact that they are sitting on different objects rather than actual chairs. I think this image shows the variety of different people in the world, each of these men sitting around are wearing different clothes which contrasts with what happened in the past as all men used to be dressed the same. Everything is in focus which adds to the effect of the image as every element in the picture is important.
