Shoot 4 Work Record

Urban Life
In this shoot I wanted to capture the lives of people outside the normal places we already see, I went into Shore ditch to capture these images. This shoot will be finished by the 20th March.

Evaluation
In the photographs I took there were some that turned out well and others that didn't work so well.

  

This image is one of my best images because it shows what I was trying to give, these women have to earn a living by selling food on a street, everyone has to earn a living but some people do it in different ways. The majority of the image is in focus which is what I was aiming for as all the elements in the picture are important in giving the image meaning. I like the colours in this image because it gives it a happier effect, we associate food with happiness so the colours add to this meaning more.

   

This image is also one of my best images because it shows urban life well by the way that these people are dressed, the traffic and the artwork displayed in front of these people. I like this image because it doesn't feature anyone else in the image which makes us focus on these two people and their relationship. The fact that everything else in the background is slightly out of focus also adds to the importance of these two people in the image.

   

I think this is one of my worst images because it doesn't show the meaning of my shoot. Although, I like the composition of this image, the bow and arrow stands out because the sky is lighter around it drawing attention to the statue. I think in general this doesn't show urban life well because there is no real meaning from this image. I took this picture as I was admiring the fact that someone had taken the time to make this and put it on top of the building. If I was going to change this image and improve it I could've taken it from a different angle and incorporated some graffiti or buildings into the picture to show the landscape more. 

Progression
I took the images I created and put them into Photoshop to edit them and improve them.

     

  

    

To edit these images I used the camera raw filter because there are more setting to play with and use. With the first two images I made them black and white because there wasn't many colours in the picture that attracted out eyes so I just completely took away the colour. In the last image I decided to keep the colour and just make it a bit bolder because if I took away the colour in this image it would not have had the effect that it originally had. I was attracted to take this picture because of the colours so by taking away the colours would have no effect. 

Overall I think this shoot went well because I produced several images that expressed the meaning that I was trying to grasp. I documented the lives of the people that live in this area as they have different everyday activities than someone else may have.

In my next shoot I will be documenting the stereotypical life of a woman. From this shoot I learn that in my next shoot I will make sure each image I take express the meaning that I am trying to express.
